The Queens Opera Association 16th Annual Vocal Competition was completed in December 2007.  Five of the six first place artists were from out of town however they all study in the New York area. The Competition was held at the Lincoln Center Complex in NYC.

First Place was awarded to a young American/Italian soprano, Ms. Jessica Rose Cambio. A lyric soprano from upstate New York, was also the winner of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, where she coached and studied with famous opera star Renata Scotto. Ms Cambio also studied with Miss Scotto here in the Opera Academy in Westchester and is currently studying with Maria Spacagna.
Second place went to Canadian baritone  Mr. Marc-Antoine d'Aragon. Mr d'Aragon received his musical education at McGill University. Third Place winner is Coloratura Soprano Ms Nili Riemer of Dorset Vermont.  Fourth Place went to Ms Veronica Matina the only artists from New York City. A tie for Fifth Place includes a Tenor from Hartford Connecticut, Mr Jonathan Winell and a Soprano from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ms. Jamie Rose Guarrine.

The QUEENS OPERA ASSOCITION VOCAL COMPETITION now in its 16th year has helped young singers with its Opera Outreach programs in the NYC schools, its Cameo operas as well as its main stage, park concerts and tours to Florida. Many of its former winners are now at the Metropolitan, New York City, and many opera companies throughout the country.
